The world has lots of water with ships transporting goods from one place to another. With so much shipping piracy can easily become a major international problem. Cartoom has become home to a major nest of pirates. Jade Force is called upon to end the problem.

This tale begins in southwest Virginia in "the colonies" a few years before the American Revolution. For my readers in Britain, sorry 'bout that. It follows James through being a long hunter, starting a new estate in North Carolina, and his involvement fighting against the British.

Al Adams makes his first visit to Chaos as a Hero. However, he must first prepare for the trip. A rescue is chosen, and plans made. But the plans must change to suit the developing situation he meets on the ground. He does push ahead in establishing himself on Chaos.

An Australian soldier is killed in Afghanistan. Years later a young girl is abducted near her school in a rural Australian town. A strange man in worn Army camos discovers her. She has a rare blood group and is bleeding to death. It's a race against time. The local community helps by donating blood; neighbours and strangers are determined to help her. A nearby Army base also helps the daughter of a respected officer who died in Afghanistan. While she's in hospital there are strange incidents.

'Once a Marine, always a Marine.' was the code he lived by. His dictionary had no definition for 'impossible:' an exceptional man who wouldn't let his superiors stop him from doing what he saw as his duty, even if it's by himself after being retired. The story is told by his niece who's concerned about how the authorities are trying to rewrite his life for their own purposes.

People with a warrior tradition face many military challenges, and how they rise to the occasion. Events demonstrate both the sheer horror of war, and the great heights people can reach when striving to protect their own. A boy caught in the rebellion leaves the country then returns to join the Royal Guards. As a colonel he must stop an invading army while outnumbered 40 to 1. A young girl who joins the Royal Guards. Follow her early childhood, enlistment, her initial deployment.

Space is huge and governments control as much of the space around and between their systems as they can, but there are still a very small parts of space not claimed by any government. Very few people are born on the ships travelling between the stars, and even fewer are born in the unclaimed areas of space, but that one thousandth of one percent who are so born are called Space Born and have some very odd citizenship rights and duties.
